I have always had a sort of handle with caution attitude towards him.
Mythology has depicted and labelled him awfully, and I have never wanted to drag around any distortion or enter any possible interaction with him lightly. However, in case of possible interactions, I wanted to be aware and respectful of his consciousness and as well as of mine
Events, from his perspective, speak of betrayal, unjust behaviour and truth fettered beforehand.
This does not deny that his energy is nevertheless massive and totally wild and requires equal honesty on our part. Not in a coercive way, or by following the alpha wolf distorted narratives oppressing their kin. That is just an excuse for poor behaviour and unaddressed personal human issues.
He (Fenrir) was there for me the moment a transformative and shattering phase began, one that has affected several areas of my life.
Now he is back in all his beauty and power, he has chosen other Beings, the Norns as his intermediaries for me, at the Well of life.
He wanted me to understand his nature, his original form, before any distortion or interpretation.
He had left behind countless tracks so that I could know his authentic nature, the moment he would show openly to me.
He has chosen to present himself as Vànagandr.
A river flowing free, pure, crystalline and when we experience our free, swift and wild flow, we meet our calm essence, the authentic one. No matter how others are labelling us, we are expressing the way we are supposed to.
He is free.
He does not allow others to define him, he acknowledges and expresses himself without walls or chains. He owns his beauty, and he goes about expressing it without asking for permission or any external approval by those trapped by their fears and afraid to face their nature.
The root Vàna may refer to a river, etymology commonly accepted, or, I have searched for it myself hope/expectation (Old Icelandic dictionary). Gandr means spirit, or great spirit. (Anyway Fenrir is one of Loki’s name, and the Wolf is referred to as Fenrir’s wolf… Then Son or hypostasis?. – Fen is connected to marsh, an entrance to the Otherworld, power place and dwelling of shapeshifters).
The monster thing, it is a pattern that has made its appearance later, by those religions that introduced and established a monstrous offspring from an evil couple.
Far from me starting any academic dissertation, I am merely reporting on the threads that have been handed over to me during my path, to find the knot, a sphere of knowledge. So, he is not a marsh monster, but something different.
This is not the first time that Beings, Entities, Ancient Consciousness, natural expressions of the Original Forces have presented themselves to me and shared their own stories, showing their true nature. Not the one fettered by later interpretations and traditions that have introduced separation, demonisation, mockery, or oblivion of the Original Forces under the banner of “religion”. Those distortions have labelled those Original Forces, that are part of our Planet and therefore the Universe, as evil, and established that those had to be ripped off from Earth and our authentic nature. They have introduced fear of connection, separation, and suppression of all that reminds us of our personal power, our true nature and beauty.
This is like how many of us are entangled in lives far removed from our authentic nature, “spiritual” arena included. Often it is just the old wearing new clothes and surviving through a modern language that keeps up with the times by leveraging fear, lack, and unworthiness of something beautiful that is dropped from above out of mercy. Those who don’t fall in the same pattern are the ones who are bad, to be saved or hated because of their nature, based on some divine universal law inspired to mankind.
In fairy tales, wolves are often the bad guys, or the not-so-clever ones, wolves as well as other Original Beings and Energies are something else, they see through lies and do not lend themselves to these games.
It is time to let our howling be heard and to express our beauty.
